Day 48
It was indeed a different life back then. My imagination took me to how it would have been like if we were living under the law today. The rituals seem incredibly stressful and a lot.
The laws continue today.
14: 34 “When you enter the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession, and I put a spreading mold in a house in that land…”. I wonder why God put spreading molds in certain houses. When there is mold, you air the house and not lock it up. This is confusing to me.
In chapter 15, the law covers discharges that come out of the body and how unclean people are. But in Genesis, God said ‘be fruitful and multiply’ several times, which means these discharges have been there all along. We were created this way. So why would God refer to those things that aid fulfilling of being fruitful and multiply as unclean? Particularly given he made them that way.
What I see is several instructions here being related to personal hygiene. I don’t know if the concept of a woman not touching anything during her period was to aid rest or give her a break because of hormones. More so, there were no female hygiene products as we have today (I really don’t want to imagine this). The sacrifices they made after all this though 🤷🏾♀️ and to think it happens monthly! Even with how advanced today’s world is, I must confess that I have nursed the idea that women should be given at least the first two days off work when they are on their periods.
