Day 195
Micah was also one of the prophets in the days of Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah. His vision was about Samaria (northern kingdom) and Jerusalem (southern kingdom).
Again, the people didn’t like Micah’s warnings. They even had a ‘God forbid’ approach in 2:6. This reminded me of today, where there is evil, and we literally forbid anything (even in God’s name). We forget the law of sowing and reaping. Yes, there can be restoration, but there are consequences for our actions.
God’s requirement was simple — 6:8 — “….and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah looks beyond God’s judgment. Judgment is definitely coming as Israel and Judah will be conquered and exiled. But the book of Micah ends with hope.
PS: Chapter 5 also talks about a ruler coming from Bethlehem.
