Day 123
I love how today’s reading started and ended.
It starts with Oh, give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever. (106:1, 107:1)
The reading today walks us through the sins of the Israelites, how they constantly got into trouble, and how as humans, we generally get into trouble. And are also reminded of how God brought them out of trouble when they cried out unto him.
It is easy for us to say God is good when the going is good. When it’s not going so well, we forget his goodness, and we move. But God’s mercy is always available to us. God’s mercy has filled in the cracks of my mistakes. Not that I didn’t have to face some of the consequences, but he was (still is and always) there.
The reading ended with, Whoever is wise, let him observe these things;
let them consider the lovingkindness of the Lord (107:43). When things aren’t going well, I am reminded to be wise and observe the goodness of God.
